FNIP Kicks Off June 17
The 10th anniversary of Friday Nights in the Park (FNIP), hosted by the Sewanee Business Alliance, begins at 6 p.m., Friday, June 17, at Angel Park on University Avenue in Sewanee. University Avenue will be closed so that guests can safely enjoy all the activities, including local vendors offering food and drink.
The FNIP concerts, free and open to the public, begin at 7 p.m. Performing on June 17 is the Has Beens, a local band that plays a mix of singer-songwriter, rock and Americana. On Friday, July 15, Jettison, a local band, will perform at 7 p.m.
Other free music in Angel Park includes a “Saturday in the Park with Sondheim” performance by the Sewanee Summer Music Festival OperaFest singers from 5–6:30 p.m., Saturday, June 25.
For the annual July 3 Street Dance, the festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. University Avenue will be closed in the downtown area. There will be a water slide and food vendors. At 7 p.m., the Eaglemaniacs take the stage. The Eaglemaniacs is comprised of a group of professional studio musicians from Nashville who passionately perform the music of the Eagles and Don Henley with exceptional musical precision.
