In a rare out-of-Nashville performance, the radio program Music City Roots brings its show to the Auditorium on Friday, June 23 for a 7 p.m. show, with doors opening at 6 p.m. Box dinners are available for pre-order at the Assembly office. The Music City Roots will feature music, interviews, and everything fans of the show have come to expect. Artists performing this year are Sam Lewis, Sarah Potenza, Farmer & Adele, and the Dave Eggar Band. Music City Roots’ Craig Havighurst will talk about “Listening – From the Sound Up” on Thursday, June 22, at 8:15 p.m. in Warren Chapel. Havighurst, a “citizen musician” and a distinguished music journalist, knows how musicians think and talk about music. Armed with a guitar and a rich multi-media presentation, he translates that knowledge and sensibility into plain speaking and engaging stories, often his own.

This week at the Assembly is the Wayne and Virginia Jervis Bible week, with daily lectures focused on a particular theme in the scripture. This year, Dr. Tom McCollough joins the Assembly on the theme: “Uncovering Jesus and Paul: Archaeology Shines New Light on the Life and Ministry of the Founders of Christianity.” The four-day series explores how recent archaeological excavations have recovered material culture that is transforming the way we read and interpret the New Testament. Dr. McCollough’s lectures occur at 10:45 a.m. in Warren Chapel, Tuesday–Friday, June 20–23.

The Sewanee Summer Music Festival will join us Wednesday, June 21, at 8:15 p.m. in Warren Chapel for the first of three concerts this summer.
