First Tour de Goat on Oct. 3
Locals and visitors alike are invited to bring their bikes and come out for the first Monteagle Tour de Goat bike event set from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 3.
The 10-mile leisurely round trip from Monteagle to Tracy City and back is along the Mountain Goat Trail, which will be decorated with colorful goat cutouts painted by local artists.
Bike riders in the laid back, fun event will pick up beads along the way to add to their goat lanyards, take selfies with the goats to post to the event page, and be eligible for prizes donated by generous local merchants.
The purpose of the free event is to get folks out on a beautiful fall day to enjoy the trail, an event spokesman said. Riders set their own pace and are encouraged to stop along the way to enjoy the trail, take a break, or stop at a local store or restaurant.
Participants should register for the event and pick up their lanyards at the pavilion at Hannah Pickett Park in Monteagle that day. Prizes given for best selfies with the goats — lots of fun for all involved. Event is sponsored by the Mountain Goat Trail, Monteagle, and Tennessee’s South Cumberland Tourism Partnership.
