32nd Annual Sewanee Writers’ Conference
From July 19-30, 2022, the University of the South will host the thirty-second annual session of the Sewanee Writers’ Conference. Supported by the Walter E. Dakin Memorial Fund established through the estate of Tennessee Williams, the Conference provides promising writers instruction through workshops and craft lectures in fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and playwriting.
Although workshops are limited to Conference participants, lectures and readings are open to the public again and free to attend. These events will be held in Guerry Auditorium on the corner of University Avenue and Georgia Avenue on the campus of the University of the South. Masking is required at all events.
The Conference will feature readings by fiction writers Chris Bachelder, Venita Blackburn, Sarah Shun-lien Bynum, Adrianne Harun, Vanessa Hua, Holly Goddard Jones, Katie Kitamura, Maurice Carlos Ruffin, Luis Alberto Urrea, and Jess Walter; poets Jericho Brown, Eduardo C. Corral, Tarfia Faizullah, Carl Phillips, Caki Wilkinson, and Monica Youn; playwrights David Adjmi, Nathan Alan Davis, Talene Monahon, and Liliana Padilla; and nonfiction writers Alexander Chee, Lacy M. Johnson, Alex Marzano-Lesnevich, and Elena Passarello.
