The Hospitality Shop is having its Summer Half-Price Clothing Sale, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Shop in its new location, 574 Georgia Avenue, in Sewanee.

Summer clothing for men and women — dresses, pants, scarves, hats, tops, bathing suits, and accessories — will be marked down. Many housewares, home decor, and media will be marked down too.

For more than 60 years, the Hospitality Shop (often called the Hop Shop now) has been a long-standing part of Sewanee’s history. It began as a sandwich shop in the basement of an old university building before moving to its current location last year. The proceeds from the Shop support multi-year tuition scholarships to local high school graduating seniors who plan to pursue careers in healthcare or the medical field.

“We are so grateful for the decades of support from the entire Sewanee community and hope to continue this service for many years to come,” said Julia Bates, past president of the Shop board.

The Shop is open 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Saturdays. Donations are accepted in the bins adjacent to the building.
